STOKE entertain the Isle of Wight Warriors in the Travel Plus National League at Loomer Road on Saturday night, 7pm.

The A.R. Richards Potters are currently eleventh in the table while the Warriors who are in their first year back in the sport are eighth.

Stoke will operate rider replacement for Danny Phillips who is racing for Newcastle in their Premier League meeting at Rye House, otherwise the Potters are unchanged.

The Warriors are having a good finish to their season having gained an impressive 47-43 victory at Coventry. The Warriors are led into action by Mark Baseby and former Potter James Cockle along with Nathan Stoneman who returned to action mid-season and has out in very solid performances most notably in the victory at Coventry where he scored a 21-point maximum. The Warriors will also be using rider replacement to cover for another former Potter in Lee Smart while completing the top five is Potters asset and still popular in the Potteries Chris Widman who has put in some solid performances recently for the island team. Completing the Warriors line up is Sam Woods and Layne Cupitt who has plenty of laps around Loomer Road having ridden for the Stoke Spitfires. Cupitt has shown up well since making the switch to the Isle of Wight and also showed up well in the British U-19 meeting at Birmingham’s Perry Barr circuit a few weeks back.

The Potters lost out to the Warriors 53-36 and will be looking to get a win over them and Stoke boss Malcolm Vasey believe his side can gain their first win since July saying “The Isle of Wight are a solid side and have gained some confidence especially after their win over Coventry at Brandon last month. They have a couple of former Stoke riders in James Cockle and Chris Widman and Layne (Cupitt) has done quite a few laps around here as well but I do believe we just have the edge over them and we will be looking to get a good win over them. We will not be taking anything for granted but the lads are all up for ending the season on a high and look to give our supporters something to smile about.”
