AFTER a long wait for supporters Stoke have named their first two riders for the 2017 National League campaign.
Club Captain Tony Atkin will return to the side with the bargain average of 7.16 bringing back to Loomer Road his enormous influence in the pits with his leadership qualities. “His influence with the other riders and his experience and know how make him a great person to have around and we are very pleased to have him back with us.” said Team Manager Malcolm Vasey.
Also, returning to Loomer Road will be their former captain Luke Priest who returns to Staffordshire after a couple of seasons at Rye House. “Luke has pushed his average up to 8.33 and is an extremely accomplished performer at this level” said Vasey. “He is rider who although owned by Sheffield has had previous spells at Stoke always producing some good results.”
Stoke Promoter Dave Tattum expressed his thanks to Sheffield Speedway for their assistance in this capture. Tattum added the following comment. “We are striving to put together a competitive team for next season, this is just the start and we are at an advanced state of discussions with a number of riders and should be able to confirm more team members within the next few days. The rather late National League AGM has caused some problems with the precise points limit not clear but along with most teams we are now able to move forward.
